A private hot tub within reach of a Cornish dog beach is a rare and good thing — the coast walk and the soak, with the dog welcome for both. Most hot-tub stock in Cornwall doesn't take dogs, and most dog-friendly stock skips the private tub, so this is the Cornish cut of our national guide: the lodges and cottages we've verified as clearing both.

Hot tubs and dog beaches — timing it right

Cornwall's draw for this kind of break is the pairing: a hot tub back at the lodge and a dog beach down the road. One thing to plan around, though.

The summer beach bans. Most Cornish beaches restrict dogs during the day (roughly 10am–6pm) from around Easter or mid-May to the end of September. So a July hot-tub break needs a year-round dog beach nearby — Gwynver, Daymer, Sandymouth and the rest — rather than the flagship resort sands. Off-season is the sweet spot. October to April, the beach bans lift, the crowds go, the rates drop, and a hot tub against an Atlantic storm is the whole point. For a dog, winter Cornwall with a hot tub is arguably better than summer.

Frequently asked questions

Are dogs allowed in the hot tub?
No — the tub is for humans only on essentially all booking-platform stock; dog hair and oils throw the water chemistry off. Dogs are welcome in the lodge, garden and usually the decking around the tub. If a listing doesn't say, assume dogs stay out of the tub.
Can I combine a hot tub with a dog beach in Cornwall?
That's the appeal of Cornwall for this — a private hot tub plus year-round dog beaches within reach. Time it right and you can walk the sand, then soak. Is a hot tub worth it in Cornwall, or is it a summer place?
Year-round. A hot tub is arguably better on a wild Atlantic-storm evening than a warm July one, and Cornwall's shoulder and winter seasons are quieter, cheaper and — for dogs — better, because the summer beach restrictions lift. Off-season midweek rates on the platforms run well below peak. Check the specific park's winter opening.
What's the difference between a lodge, a cabin and a cottage with a hot tub?
For a dog holiday, less than the labels suggest — all mean self-catering with a private hot tub. "Lodge" and "log cabin" usually mean a timber unit on a holiday park (often with a pool and facilities); "cottage" means a standalone building.
