Log cabin, lodge or cottage — which are you after?

The labels trip people up, so here's the plain version. Log cabin, lodge and cabin all mean the same thing for a holiday: a timber-built, self-catering unit, usually on a holiday park, with its own deck and — on this page — a private hot tub. Parks use the words interchangeably, so don't read too much into which one a listing picks.

Cottage is the one that genuinely differs — a standalone, usually older and often stone building, rather than a timber cabin on a park. Both can be brilliant with a dog; they're just a different feel. If the woodland-cabin-with-a-deck picture is what you want, this is your list. One constant across all of them: the hot tub is for humans only — dogs don't go in the water, on any UK stock. They're welcome everywhere else the cabin allows.

What's the difference between a log cabin, a lodge and a cabin?
For a dog holiday, almost nothing — the terms are used interchangeably. "Log cabin", "lodge" and "cabin" all mean a timber-built, self-catering unit, usually on a holiday park, typically with its own deck and (here) a private hot tub. "Cottage" is the one that's genuinely different — that's a standalone, usually older, often stone building. Can dogs stay inside a log cabin?
Yes — dogs stay in the cabin with you (that's the whole point), typically with the run of the living areas, and the decking around the hot tub. Where they're allowed varies by cabin — some keep dogs off the bedrooms or furniture — and the tub itself is always out of bounds to dogs. Each cabin's card and full review state the specific policy we could verify.
Are the hot tubs private to the cabin?
On every cabin here, yes — the hot tub is private to your unit, usually on your own decking, not a shared park facility. That's a deliberate filter: a shared spa isn't the same experience, and it's harder to use with a dog waiting. We only include cabins with a genuinely private tub.
