If you travel with more than one dog, a lot of "dog-friendly" cottages aren't — they cap at a single dog, and the limit is firm. It's the quiet filter that catches multi-dog households out, because the cap often isn't obvious until you're entering dates. So this page gathers the cottages we've verified as welcoming two or more dogs, with the max-dog number confirmed against the listing for each.

Why is it hard to find cottages that take more than one dog?
Most self-catering listings cap dogs at one or two, and a surprising number are one-dog-only — set by the owner over cleaning and wear rather than anything about your dogs. The cap is firm, too: "two dogs" almost never means "two-ish". So if you have two (or more), a big chunk of the apparent inventory is quietly off-limits, and the search facets don't always make the cap obvious until you're deep in the booking. This page does that filtering for you.
What if I have three or more dogs?
That's harder again — most of the cottages here cap at two. Your best routes are the larger rural farmhouses (which sometimes flex on numbers by arrangement) and the rare property that states no limit at all. On our list, Swale View in Swaledale is the standout: it explicitly welcomes "as many as you like, even muddy ones", free of charge. For three-plus dogs, start there or call owners of the bigger lettings to ask before booking.
Is there an extra charge per dog?
Sometimes — it varies by property. Many charge a flat per-stay pet supplement regardless of one or two dogs; some charge per dog (School House in Askrigg, for instance, adds £10 for the second). Will two dogs be allowed everywhere in the cottage?
Usually the same rules apply whether you bring one dog or two — but those rules vary by property (some are throughout, some downstairs-only, some not-on-the-furniture), and they don't change with dog count.
